About 2 weeks ago I went for a quick walk along the Rhine, I took my camera with with the 50mm prime and tried to make some pictures. On the camera screen they looked promising however the big versions are a bit blurry. Anyway, I think they give a nice impression of the Rhine close to where I live.

Last night I woke up around 3.40 because my bed was shaking. Now is my bed not that stable so it does move when you turn around, but this felt a bit different. It couldn’t have been one of my housemates pulling a prank because they were not at home, so.. I thought.. it must have been an earthquake then and as I saw this morning I was right:

Today I got back from work and thought, hey.. I really should start running again! Last time was more than a month ago (and still in Eindhoven). I had a look on Google maps but couldn’t really find something interesting so just jumped in my running outfit and started. To not get not too enthusiastic after such a while of doing nothing I thought 5km would be nice and knew which round would be this distance(give or take). The sun was shining, and there was a nice breeze so perfect weather.

Today I took the nice and ripe penis pepper off the plant and did a photo shoot. I think this is the winner:
And I proudly present to you, my first ripe completely LED grown chili! The peter penis shape is not as I hoped for but nevertheless I think this is a cool one.

I guess these peter penis peppers really like my leds, the first one didn’t grow that much in length anymore but got a bit thicker, and the small second one you saw on earlier pics, well, look for yourself!
The ajoema plant is also going pretty good. It started making flower buds a while back but none got a real flower. I guess it’s not ready yet. But, I’m not in a hurry and just let it do its thing!
So look at that, about a week further and it is starting to look like a chili!
And some others are starting to grow as well.
I couldn’t really believe it, some weeks ago I saw some flower buds appearing on the peter penis pepper. It was only under the 4 ultra blue bright LEDs. When I noticed the buds I also put some red light on it and a couple of days later the first flower came out. I pollinated it with my finger and another couple of days later the petal leaves started to shrivel up and you could see the little chili butt appearing.
Also some other flowers coming out. I really hope that this one stays on!
And when I had a look at the ajoema today, I saw it also made a flower bud. The plant is still relatively small, but this is cool I think. I will also leave this one on and just have a look what the plant is going to do with it. Normally you would take those early buds off to let the plant spent all the energy in getting a bit bigger but I wonder what it’s going to do with this one ( too small plants also drop their flowers )
It’s been a while, unfortunately, I cannot say I got fruit (yet). I have mostly been struggling with keeping the temperature up. Since my room is not good isolated at all it tends to get fairly cold here during the nights. The growth in the plants decreased and I’m not sure what the exact reason is. My conclusions so far are that giving your plants a head start for the season is very good possible with these LED’s. But I’m not sure if flowering and fruiting will work out. (with the setup I’m using at the moment)
For now I just leave the plants under the light, and have a look how they end up. I also came across some 130.000mcd blue LED’s which are incredibly bright. I made a kind of private solarium for a seedling using 4 of these 130.000mcd LED’s.
I place this old coffee can over the seedling giving it a huge amount of light. And it seems to work out pretty good. The plan with these new plants is giving a head start for comming season. I have one peter penis pepper and one ajoema growing:
